P U R P O S E
To highlight the importance of medicines
from biological sources as applied
by traditional knowledge

The symposium will bring together international representatives from academic and research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, governments and Indigenous communities. Speakers will address issues related to:
 
The value and state of traditional knowledge about medicinal resources Research needs and opportunities
Conservation strategies to preserve medicinal biodiversity Quality standards and regulation of natural medicines
Protection of the intellectual property rights of Indigenous Peoples
 		 Canada’s potential contribution to enhancement of human health and well-being through recognition, respect and application of traditional knowledge
